The sources of inspiration for Paula Rego’s work extend beyond the visual arts, crossing into cinema, theatre, literature and poetry. This exhibition, presented alongside the premiere of João Botelho’s film tribute to the artist, traces the lasting influence of Countess of Ségur’s Les Petites Filles Modèles (1858), a book that captivated Rego from childhood, on the artistic universes of both painter and filmmaker. It brings together drawings and engravings by Rego that reveal how a single literary world can echo across disciplines and generations
